The Laboratory Support Technician (LST) provides specimen collection and technical and clerical assistance within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. This position performs peripheral blood collection, assists nursing staff with line collections, and performs a variety of support functions in the clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology work areas. Technical support duties are overseen by licensed personnel and may include specimen accessioning and processing, preparing specimens for testing, equipment operation, and performing daily routines necessary for the efficient operation of the assigned work area. Clerical support duties may include patient registration, verification and ordering of laboratory tests, report processing, assisting with customer requests, and data collection.

EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum six (6) months related laboratory experience preferred
- Medical terminology and bilingual skills preferred
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma as accredited by the US Department of Education or GED required
- Current certification as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or II (CPT I or CPT II) required
