Mental and Emotional Health Advisor

Position Reports to:   Principal

Position Classification: Part-time, at-will, school year, non-exempt, hourly 

Position Requirements:

• Master’s degree in psychology or a counseling-related field

• Wisconsin licensure for counseling

• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work successfully and positively with parents, staff, and students in a school environment is required

• Ability to work with K-12th-grade students

Position Overview:

The Mental and Emotional Health Advisor focuses on providing emotional guidance, mental health support, and faith based counseling to students as they navigate academic, social and personal challenges. 

Position Responsibilities: 

• Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical and professional counseling standards.

• Develop and implement mental health programs that integrate faith-based perspectives.

• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school leadership to identify and support students in need.

• Provide crisis, individual and group interventions as appropriate

• Provide resources and materials for teachers

• Provide professional development for staff and training for school community members

• Perform data analysis to identify student issues, needs and challenges.

• provide classroom-based lessons on specific topics

• small group counseling for a specific amount of time

• Assist in conflict resolution

• Provide individual counseling for students for a limited time

• Make referral for long-term support

• Collaborate with families, administration, and community providers and agencies.

• Advocate for students at student focused meeting and at a schoolwide level

• Provide leadership and support in crisis intervention.

Other position appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the Principal or Head of School.
