What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Crisis Responder position at Valley Community Services Board?
Valley Community Services Board (VCSB) is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Mobile Crisis Unit. The Mobile Crisis Responder will provide mobile crisis services to the Valley CSB catchment area homes, schools, and community settings. The catchment area consists of Augusta County, Highland County, Staunton City, and Waynesboro City. The incumbent will have ongoing support and clinical guidance from supervisory staff.

Essential Functions
- Assessing crisis situations and providing immediate crisis support to communities within the catchment area; responding within 1 hour to crisis episodes.
- Applies knowledge of crisis response to individuals who are experiencing a mental health and/or substance use crisis.
- Provides crisis services to individuals diagnosed with intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disabilities (ID/DD).
- Applies knowledge regarding the nature of serious mental illness (SMI), substance use disorders (SUD), serious emotional disturbance (SED), and/or ID/DD, depending on the population served.
- Provides de-escalation services.
- Provides support for individuals in crisis.
- Documents all services and results in the individual's electronic health record by established deadlines and documents progress and maintains a permanent record of the individual's activity according to established methods.
- Oversees Medicaid and Medicare related documentation, record keeping, and billing.
