Veterinary Assistant and Kennel Attendant/ Veterinary Receptionist
The Valley Cottage Animal Hospital has been dedicated to providing the best possible care for our clients and their pets since 1980. In that time, we have grown to an eleven veterinarian practice with board certified veterinarians, and over fifty highly skilled support team members to care for our canines, felines, avian and exotic patients.
We are a full service, AAHA accredited animal hospital, fully equipped with the latest technology including surgical laser, ultrasound, digital and dental radiology, therapeutic laser and digatherm.
We are currently seeking a Veterinary Assistant, Kennel Attendant, Veterinary Receptionist. This is a cross-trained position which includes working in all 3 positions. Customer service experience is highly valued, preferably in the health care industry. Previous experience in the veterinary field is a must.
Responsibilities include telephone work, computer work, client & patient contact, and a very high attention to detail. The main purpose of the Veterinary Assistant/Kennel Attendant position is to assist veterinarians and nurses with patient care and treatment, monitor hospitalized pets, prepare occasional prescriptions, perform routine in-house lab work, and educate clients regarding veterinary care and procedures. The main purpose of the Veterinary Receptionist position is to provide an outstanding first and last impression to our clients via superb client service, clear communication, and compassion.

Requirements for the position:
- A team player who enjoys interaction with both people and pets

- Valid Driver’s License
- Dependable, Reliable, Competent
- Ability to work evenings , weekends, and holidays, and inclement weather, flexible with schedule
- 1 year of experience preferred
Core physical job requirements:
- Sit, stand, walk, reach
- Lift up to 50 pounds of weight
- Walk on stairs
- Carry food and patients
- Restrain dog on leash
- Answer/dial telephones
- Accurate data entry
- Client education, promotion of hospital products and services
- Practical knowledge of the hospital’s procedures, protocols, polices and services
Salary:
- To be determined based upon experience
- Night differential for 8pm – 7 am Shifts
