What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Scribe position at Valley Foot & Ankle Specialty Providers?
Valley Foot and Ankle Specialty Providers (VFASP) of Fresno are looking for an exceptional, full time Scribe with some experience to join our fast growing practice. Our ideal team member is entrepreneurial, positive, and hard-working while also respectful of patients and staff.
This person will work closely with the provider transcribing charts, navigating our electronic records system, Epic. This person will provide accurate, timely charting of patient encounters, including but not limited to patient history, physical exams, diagnostic findings, lab and test results, diagnoses, discharge instructions, prescriptions, and preparation of lab and biopsy requisition forms. The scribe will also be responsible for keeping the physician moving in the office during clinical hours.
Professional work experience, excellent customer service, and motivated team player are qualities required for this role. The right candidate must be highly organized and understand the importance of patient care and customer service. They must also know how to relate to people in a variety of situations, be highly trustworthy, discreet, and use good judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Accompany provider(s) into patient examination room to accurately and efficiently document the encounter.
- Accurately complete necessary paperwork and electronic health records input associated with the visit encounter.
- Exhibit excellence in medical terminology and billing & coding knowledge in all documentation.
- Successfully navigate the electronic medical record system (Epic) to input documentation.
- List all proper diagnoses as well as plan of care instructions as dictated by provider.
- Multitask efficiently and effectively as required.
- Work under pressure, within time constraints; must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
- Exhibit excellent listening skills. Concentrate on the needs of the provider(s) throughout entire shift.
- Understand and observe legal concepts (e.g. HIPAA, Confidentiality).
- Other duties as assigned by manager/provider
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Scribe certification preferred.
- At least 1 year of medical scribe experience preferred.
- Billing and coding knowledge preferred.
- Medical terminology required.
- Bilingual preferred.
