Job Description
The Clinical Data Analyst supports the Quality & Patient Safety Office through the abstraction of clinical data with the highest degree of integrity and creating reports that will transform data points into meaningful and actionable information. The Analyst is key to providing information to Valley Health System leadership and providers to assist with optimizing clinical outcomes. The Clinical Data Analyst is responsible for the reviewing medical records to abstract information according to the appropriate regulatory standards such as Center of Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) and The Joint Commission (TJC). Maintains criteria knowledge of the Inpatient, Outpatient, and Inpatient Psychiatric abstracted measures, completes outlier edit checks with changes completed in a timely manner, and assists with Interrater Reliability abstractions.
Clinical Data Analyst serves as an expert resource within Valley Health System related to clinical and regulatory and following publicly reported and/or mandated clinical reporting initiatives such as Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) and The Joint Commission (TJC). As an expert resource, the Analyst assures appropriate data collection, abstraction, analysis and reporting of noted measures, and communicates changes in definitions, methodology, and mandatory requirements to System Quality and Patient Safety Office. Seen as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), the Clinical Data Analyst will serve as an educational resource to other analysts, providers, and other member of the quality team to ensure that data definitions, analyzed reports, and clinical rationale be communicated properly.

Education
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred.
Experience
LPN, RN or Certification in clinical area preferred.
5 years Chart Abstraction required.
10 years Chart Abstraction preferred.
Qualifications
Knowledge of EHR required, (EPIC preferred).
Knowledge of computer skill required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required (Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel).
Knowledge of health care systems required.
Proficiency in medical terminology, data abstraction principles and guidelines require.
Strong attention to detail required.
Ability to abide by strict confidentiality regulations as defined by HIPPA regulations & company policy required.
Excellent Analytical Skills Required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Excellent Organizational And Time Management Skills Required.
Ability to work independently and efficiently required.
Ability to work as a team, researching and sharing criteria updates and working with vendors to clarify abstracting issues required.
