RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SPORTS OFFICIAL:
- Assists with the overall operations of youth sports programs.
- Develops positive relationships with participants, coaches, and parents.
- Assists in the evaluation of programs, maintains accurate records, and distributes information to coaches.
- Operates all equipment properly and promptly reports any problems.
- Sets up and maintains a clean playing area.
- Attends staff meetings and training courses as required.
- Obtains a substitute supervisor when needed.
- Supervises one or more sports sites.
- Enforces rules and regulations.
- Possesses mature judgment and sound decision-making.
- Communicates effectively with members, peers, volunteers, parents, children, and supervisor.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures.
- Completes incident and accident reports, as necessary.
- Incorporates the mission, philosophy, and 4 core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and co-workers.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE A SPORTS OFFICIAL:
- 21 years of age or older
- Current state approved first aid certification
- Current CPR
- Up-to-date knowledge of YMCA guidelines designated for the league
- Six months minimum experience in refereeing
