Valley Radiology Consultants has been serving North County San Diego since 1971 at our two clinics in Poway and Escondido. We are looking for career-minded people interested in long-term employment in the medical field at our Escondido clinic 6:30 am - 3:00 pm.
The ideal Front Desk Receptionist Receptionist/Patient Services Representative (PSR) has strong customer service skills, handles themselves professionally at all times, takes pride in doing a great job, shows compassion to patients, is a reliable and committed team player, and has at least one-year experience working in a medical clinic or office as a Front Desk Receptionist and/or a Scheduler/Call Center Representative.
As a Front Desk/Patient Services Representative (PSR) you will play a critical customer service role in our company as you are, in most cases, the initial and final point of contact for our patients. The PSR creates the first impression our patients/visitors receive when they enter or contact any of our facilities, highly influencing the effectiveness of our patients’ experience. The PSR is responsible for all clerical tasks associated with the daily operations of the facility, and receives direction from the Front Desk Lead and Practice Administrator.
General:
- Greets all patients with a professional and courteous attitude. Responds to patient concerns in a positive and solution-focused manner.
- Accurately responds to requests and inquiries from patients, physicians and employees.
- Guards and maintains confidentiality of patients in accordance with HIPPA, State and Federal Regulations plus VRC policies.
- Completes all training requirements and keeps annual training certifications up to date for the entire duration of employment with VRC.
- Mentors new staff as directed by supervisor and per company policy.
- Maintains positive working relationships with all departments while conducting oneself in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
- Works proactively in a fast-paced environment. Alerts supervisor of urgent matters in a timely manner.
- Completes tasks and assignments, as delegated, to support the entire PSR team in all functions.
Front Desk Functions:
- Checks-in patients with kindness, courtesy, and efficiency.
- Enters patient data accurately; copies, faxes and scans appropriate information as needed.
- Ensures patients present valid government issued photo I.D. and Insurance card.
- Verifies orders, reviews patient completed documentation and inputs data into RIS.
- Ensures that every patient seen has a valid order, authorization, eligibility, and labs (as needed) in the RIS system at check-in.
- Collection of time of service payments, inputs data accurately, responsibly turns in money to appropriate person.
- Answers phones by the third ring, and transfers calls to the appropriate person by connecting directly with needed party before releasing the call.
- Calls and confirms patients for the following day’s procedures. If a patient is missing a valid order, authorization, eligibility or and labs (as needed), this information must be tracked down by yourself or the site designated chaser.
- Informs patient of the estimated co-insurance/deductible/co-pay due at time of service. Also reminds patient of prep for the exam.
- Manage call report and critical results follow ups in RIS.
- Conducts follow-up phone calls with patient, including scheduling reminders and returning voice mails.
- Learns all functions of scheduling patients, and helps our scheduling team as needed.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong customer service skills.
- A minimum of 6 months of patient facing work in a medical setting strongly desired.
- Knowledge of basic Medical Terminology.
- Intermediate user of an EHR and MS Office.
- Must be comfortable using computers and learning new programs.
