What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traill/Steele County Assistant position at Valley Senior Services?
This position will assist with the administration side of services in Traill/Steele counties and assist cooks with meal preparation and site operations. This position will work primarily at the Valley Senior Services office in Hillsboro.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include, but are not limited to:
Meal Sites:
- Will assist cook and/or serve meals including cleanup and paperwork as part of kitchen duties.
- Clean meal preparation and serving areas according to health standards, follow a monthly, weekly, and daily cleaning schedule on kitchen equipment. Deliver commodities to remote clients as needed.
- Deliver information, meals, frozen meals, or other supplies to sites as needed.
- Assist with registration for congregate and home delivered meals.
- Assist with daily receipting of meal program income and prepare deposit.
- Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
Transportation:
- Answer incoming transportation calls and schedule appropriately as needed.
- Assist in distribution of VSS printed materials.
- Assist in accurate record keeping of all rides and money.
- Act as substitute driver when needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
Office:
- Greet persons entering office in a friendly manner and direct to appropriate staff.
- Answer phone calls and direct calls with a courteous and professional manner.
- Provide clerical and administrative support as necessary and needed.
- Assist with monthly reports as needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Evaluation of this position may also be based on performance of the following other functions, which include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with preparation of frozen meals on wheels for delivery and pickup.
- Distribution of Home Delivered Meal donation notices.
- Assist with charting and depositing of meal donations.
- Delivery of Meals on Wheels as needed.
Experience and Skills:
- Prior work experience in a restaurant/food service setting is desirable along with previous experience working with computers.
- The ability and desire to work with senior citizens are required.
- Must possess a class D driver's license with clean driving record for at least 3 years prior to employment. Mandated preemployment drug testing. Random drug & alcohol testing after employment.
