Veterinarian

Position open Spring 2025:

Valley Veterinary Hospital and Cascade East Animal Clinic are both in the beautiful Kittitas Valley of Central WA, and have been privately owned for the last 70 years. Because our area is growing rapidly, and many clients at our practice accept our recommendations for excellent care, our doctors consistently earn productivity bonuses which result in annual take home pay well above the posted base salary.

We see about 75% small animal patients, with the remainder mostly equine. Ruminant and small ruminant care is a small percentage that may be growing. Our main location, Valley Veterinary Hospital, was rebuilt in 2015 with 5 exam rooms and an indoor equine facility. Our satellite office, Cascade East in Cle Elum, offers a smaller clinic feel, with one of our doctors rotating M-F into that location. We offer farm calls to our clients as well.

Our team has low turnover and consists of 7 licensed technicians, as well as other support staff. Collaboration amongst our doctors is strong. Equipment is up to date, with new Sound DR and dental DR systems, new Samsung ultrasound, endoscopy, and Ezyvet PMS. Dentistry is a strength in this practice in both small animal and equine.

Our practice mission and vision statements and core values are well defined, and our positive practice culture is not only discussed at our regular team meetings, it is also noticeable on a daily basis. Our full time doctors rotate on call duty with another hospital in town, resulting in a one out of 8 weekend responsibility for this position. On call nurses help with all visits. Doctors receive compensation of 50% of after hours invoiced charges, which can result in significant added compensation. Work life balance is important to all of us, and average 40 hour work weeks are consistently maintained. 3 day weekends are rotated among our full time DVM's.

The Kittitas valley is still considered small town, and college town (Central WA University). Seattle is a day trip and many folks commute to work there. The mountains and rivers (Columbia, Yakima rivers) are close by, and fly fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing, and trail riding are in our backyard. We are still an agricultural-based community, and equine activities abound. The Ellensburg Rodeo is one of the top 10 in the country. Most importantly, this is a family friendly community, and our practice reflects this.
