What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admission Specialist position at Valley Vista?
Summary of Position:
The Admission Specialist is a detail oriented, team player who will be responsible for the inquiry of all potential admissions and will navigate the admission process while providing a positive image of the facility. This person will participate in change-of-shift treatment team meetings and discusses patients emotional/behavioral issues/concern, and related programming needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Processes admission requests, admission scheduling, and intake process
Interviews patient or representative to obtain patient and insurance information
Admits patients efficiently and sensitively, while obtaining appropriate signatures on all necessary documents
Advises referrals of their patients admission as soon as possible
Enters admitting information into computer and provides appropriate department with chart
Provides patients with orientation to Valley Vista and reviews Patient Handbook
Compiles data for occupancy and census records
Contacts recovery specialists for placement of valuables
Coordinates and maintains patient log, census board, daily census, and discharge tracking report
Communicates with Nursing staff regarding new admissions as necessary
Develops and maintains professional relationships with patients at Valley Vista
Follows organizations attendance and punctuality policies.
Answers telephone, deliver messages, and provides information to patients, visitors, personal, and the general public upon request
Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
Highschool diploma/GED required; Associates degree (A.A.) in related field and knowledge of chemical dependency and mental health preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Ability
Timeliness and completeness of required documentation.
Follows organizations attendance and punctuality policies
Can work as a member of a team
Demonstrates knowledge of proper boundaries with patients
Strong time management
Compassion and understanding for patients needs and situation
