What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instrument Coordinator position at Valleywise Health System?
Under the direction of the Central Sterile Manager, this position provides indirect patient care by preparing and processing supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures.
Hourly Pay Rate: $24.96 - $36.82
Qualifications
Education:

Requires a High school diploma or GED.

Associate degree preferred.
Experience:
-
Must have a minimum of three (3) years of Sterile Processing experience in all surgical specialties that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Strong leadership skills and prior experience managing assets or systems are highly desired.
Certification/Licensure:
-
Must have a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) and CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) from IAHCSMM within one year of the position's start date.

Ambulatory Clinics: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety OR submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.

Requires BLS. A BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center is preferred and will be required within 3 months.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must have strong leadership skills. Knowledge of managing assets or systems is highly desired.

Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with many interruptions.

Requires knowledge of surgical instrumentation.

Must be proficient in computer skills including MS Office and other related software applications.

Requires strong communication skills.

Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
