What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Practice Resident PGY1 position at Valleywise Health System?
This position is a twelve (12) month Pharmacy Residency accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) to provide post-graduate pharmacist training in clinical and distributive pharmacy for an integrated healthcare system. In this position, the PGY1 Pharmacy Resident will develop and apply skills to assist in the application of pharmacotherapeutic principles to improve patient outcomes and meeting all pharmacy practice activities of the Valleywise Health (VH) Department of Pharmacy required by the Rules and Regulations of the Arizona Pharmacy Act. Under the direction of the Residency Program Director and assigned pharmacy preceptors, this position provides quality patient care through medication management using comprehensive clinical assessments, healthcare collaboration, and professional judgment. The PGY1 Pharmacy Resident will be a liaison to the patients, providers, and other healthcare professionals, providing accurate medication education and drug information. The PGY1 Pharmacy Resident will oversee the activities of the pharmacy technicians, adhering to local, state, and federal laws defined by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.
Hourly Pay Rate: $28.00 PGY1
Qualifications
Education:
- Requires PharmD degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy.
Experience:
- Must have successful completion of accredited pharmacy school curriculum and clinical training.
Certification/Licensure:
- Arizona Pharmacist license no later than September 1st of year of hire.
- Requires BLS and ACLS issued by the American Heart Association within 12 months of position start date.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
- Must have the ability to perform the responsibilities of technician staff initially with licensure as a Pharmacist (by the State of Arizona) no later than September 1st of the year of hire.
