What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Practice Resident PGY2 position at Valleywise Health System?
This position is a twelve (12) month Post Graduate Year 2 Emergency Medicine (EM) Pharmacy Practice Residency accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) to provide post-graduate pharmacist training in clinical and distributive pharmacy for an integrated health care system. In this position, the PGY2 EM Pharmacy Resident will develop and apply skills to assist in the application of pharmacotherapeutic principles to improve patient outcomes and meeting all pharmacy practice activities of the Valleywise Health Department of Pharmacy required by the Rules and Regulations of the Arizona Pharmacy Act. Under the direction of the Residency Program Director and assigned pharmacy preceptors, this position provides quality patient care through medication management using comprehensive clinical assessments, healthcare collaboration and professional judgement. The PGY2 EM Pharmacy Resident will be a liaison to the patient, providers and other healthcare professionals providing accurate medication education and drug information. The PGY2 EM Pharmacy Resident may oversee the activities of the pharmacy technicians, adhering to local, state, and federal laws defined by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.
Hourly Pay Rate: $30 PGY2
Qualifications
Education:

Requires PharmD degree from accredited school of Pharmacy.

Must have successfully completed an ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency.
Experience:

Must have successfully completed an ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency.
Certification/Licensure:

Arizona Pharmacist license no later than August 1st of year of hire.

Requires BLS, ACLS, PALS and ATLS within 12 months of position start date.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.

Must have the ability to perform tech responsibilities of technician staff with licensure as a Pharmacist (by the State of Arizona) no later than August 1st of year of hire.

Must possess general math and computer skills.
