This Job Description applies to the position of R&D Maintenance and Projects Coordinator in the Research and Development department of VAM USA, Hardy campus, Houston TX.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
1.0.1 Safety:
- Follow and lead all Company Rules, Procedures and Policies and Safety Program requirements.
- Ensure compliance to the Lock out Tag Out Program.
- LOTO procedures audit and accuracy.
- Site specific LOTO training.
- Conduct audit as needed, trained and validate competency.
- Ensure job safety and compliance but filling required permits.
- LOTO group permit / hot work / digging and excavation and others.
- Closely communicate with HSE team to coordinate non routine repair.
- Ensure participation and adherence to safety awareness initiatives.
- Safety safaris (team observation walks in/around the lab).
- Safety observation cards.
- Safety visits.
- Monthly HSE meetings and quarterly training.
- Address any equipment safety concern in a timely manner.
- Ensure timely reporting, action, and closure for identified safety issues.
- Observation cards.
- Accident and Near miss reports.
- Corrective/preventive actions.
- Report any work-related injury, illness, and incident or near misses to supervisor immediately and cooperate with the investigation as appropriate.
- Maintain personal work area and common areas in a clean and orderly manner; good housekeeping means a safer workplace.
- Wear and maintain prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Stop the work activities that represent any condition or behavior that could be expected to cause injury, death or environmental harm.
- Participate in Emergency Response Plan as appropriate.
1.0.2 People and Contractors
- Supervise R&D Maintenance Technician and R&D Fab technician. Need to prioritize and organize the workload.
- Train, coach and mentor subordinate to improve skill levels.
- Train, coach and mentor subordinate to ensure appropriate behaviors.
- Manage on site contractors.
- Contact contractor, get quote and schedule repair.
- Ensure safety orientation, Daily work permit and Job safety assessment.
- Verify contractor compliance to safety rules.
- Validate job completion and sign off document.
1.0.3 Maintenance
- Responsible for resolving equipment problems that delay the daily scheduled work.
- Address equipment repair with proper level of urgency.
- Support the maintenance technician (provide guidance during trouble shooting and repair).
- Track and document repair.
- Analyze root cause and prevent repetitive break down.
- Implement and ensure preventative maintenance for all R&D Lab equipment.
- PM items and frequency.
- Method and standard.
- Training.
- Tracking and reporting via the Preventive Maintenance Master file.
- Install new equipment. Write maintenance routine procedure and implement PM schedule.
- Internalize critical / long lead time / high-cost activities.
1.0.4 Projects Coordinator (CAPEX and Custom test protocol)
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for capital expenditure projects.
- Manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and adherence to financial guidelines.
- Work closely with finance / CAPEX governance teams to track project expenditures and forecast future spending.
- Identify, evaluate, and select vendors and contractors for project execution.
- Negotiate contracts, oversee vendor performance, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Top Management, Testing, prototyping and quality assurance, to ensure alignment with:
- Project goals.
- Communicate project progress and challenges to stakeholders.
- Ensure all projects adhere to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Implement and oversee quality assurance processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Responsible for all aspect of the project from definition, implementation and ramp up.
- Transfer the CAPEX to operation manager with all proper training, procedures and documentation.
1.0.5 Any other duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science or higher degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or Technology or equivalent program is required; or 10 years equivalent technical and management experience.
- Microsoft Office software application knowledge required.
- 2 years minimum operating/maintaining OCTG (Oil Country Tubular Goods) prototyping & testing equipment is desirable such as CNC Lathes, Endforming, Stress Relief, Load Frames, etc.
- Familiarity with Electrical and Hydraulic systems preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methods experience desirable.
- Solid Works/Inventor 3D CAD system knowledge is desirable.
- Strong verbal, written and analytical skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines.
- Ability to fluently read, write and speak English.
- Must be able to pass applicable testing as required.
