The Production Planner plays a critical role in maintaining project schedules by efficiently organizing project information and components to ensure their availability when needed. Key responsibilities include issuing daily shop work schedules, preparing management reports, and reviewing, modifying, and releasing shop routings. The Production Planner also works closely with production supervisors and the purchasing team to gather estimates for project hours and pricing, ensuring schedules and customer delivery expectations are met.
In addition, the role involves keeping customers and customer service informed about order status, expediting critical path schedules, and managing shortage lists for major projects. The Production Planner provides support to Sales and Customer Service by responding promptly to inquiries about deliveries and schedules, and also reviews additional work orders to establish delivery expectations. Additional duties include compiling shop routing binders, assisting with hour tracking in payroll and ERP systems, and performing other tasks as needed. Travel may be required.

To excel in the role you should strive to provide the highest level of customer service by organizing project information and parts in order to have them ready when needed in order to maintain project schedules. You should have a solid understanding of the business and manufacturing environment. You will also balance a desire to support and work closely with customers along with your passion for development of cutting-edge products.
To succeed in this role you will need
The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma, with additional studies in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business Management, or possess equivalent experience from previous employment. A strong knowledge of computers is essential for effective performance in this role. The candidate should demonstrate competence in computerized systems, possess good communication and organizational skills, and be proficient in PC applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and project scheduling software. Additionally, the ability to read, understand, and communicate information from equipment drawings is required.
