Join our Strategic Pricing team as a Pricing Analyst and play a key role in shaping pricing strategies for the North American Lighting & Transportation industry! In this dynamic position, you'll gather and analyze sales data and customer feedback to recommend pricing policies that drive profitability. You'll develop and leverage pricing tools to enhance pricing analysis and presentations, all while supporting the execution of long-term strategic pricing initiatives.
As a Pricing Analyst, you’ll lead efforts to help the division meet its gross margin goals by optimizing pricing tools, processes, and controls. You'll also dive into analyzing both internal business performance and external market conditions, helping the team understand key market drivers. This role requires a strong command of data visualization and analysis software like Microsoft Power BI and Excel, and you'll be a subject matter expert in any future pricing tools adopted by the division.

Essential Functions:
- Gathers and interprets both quantitative data and qualitative feedback to analyze and optimize pricing strategies, collaborating with Customer Service, Sales, and Product Management to maximize gross margin.
- Partners with Product Management, Sales, and Marketing to develop profitability measurements by customer, segment, and product line, taking the lead in gathering, measuring, and reporting this data.
- Supports the development of business intelligence solutions, including reports, dashboards, and data visualizations, while maintaining divisional reporting standards.
- Assesses market opportunities, evaluates revenue and margin potential across product lines and segments, and reviews competitor pricing to inform strategic decisions.
- Assists in developing pricing strategies that balance customer value and competitive positioning.
- Analyzes and recommends pricing changes for new or existing products, national accounts, and services based on market demand, profitability targets, and competitive factors.
- Leads analysis to establish consistent methodologies for pricing analysis and ensuring long-term profitability.
- Conducts monthly analysis of North America L&T divisional gross margins and reports on profitability trends across customers, channels, product lines, and other key metrics.
- Supports the Strategic Pricing team in the annual strategic planning process and research tasks.
- Develops and maintains dashboards and KPIs to track business objectives and supports stakeholders with in-depth analysis and metrics.
- Leads educational initiatives on pricing strategy and framework development to promote pricing awareness across the division.
- Demonstrates Valmont's core values, including passion for products and customers, integrity, continuous improvement, and delivering results, while embracing lean principles.
- Partners with marketing and customer service teams to promote a safe work environment.
- The role may require up to 10% travel (domestic), including overnight stays.
Additional Role Responsibilities:
- Supports the Strategic Pricing team by maintaining a strong customer orientation, engaging with product management, marketing, sales teams, and external customers to gather insights and adjust division pricing programs.
- Participates in pricing industry events and conferences, staying up-to-date on trends and contributing through papers or speaking opportunities.
- Designs and develops business intelligence solutions while managing divisional data reporting processes for consistency and alignment with strategic goals.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree with 3 years relevant experience, Associate’s with 5 years, or 7 years of relevant experience
- 3 to 7 years of experience in an engineered-product, B to B environment is desired.
- At least 1 year of experience in Business Intelligence, Visualization Development, and Data Sciences
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Windows-based computer applications; expertise in Excel or similar spreadsheet software
- Strong working knowledge of business intelligence and data analysis software such as Power BI (including DAX), Alteryx, SQL, etc.
- Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and related systems: IFS, SAP
- Strong writing skills for reports, business correspondence, and manuals
- Understanding of business math, economic indicators, and business metrics
- Ability to analyze problems, collect data, and draw conclusions
- Ability to travel domestically up to 10%
- Must work in the office 3 days per week
Highly Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in business, economics, business statistics, or data science; MBA is preferred Experience in report development and analytics for manufacturing
- Familiarity with agile development and user requirements gathering
- Proficient knowledge of SQL languages, Databricks, Python, Jira, Salesforce, SSRS, etc.
- Knowledge of Valmont business systems and processes.
