Job Summary:
The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting department by performing a variety of financial tasks. The Junior Accountant will assist with day-to-day accounting activities, including data entry, account reconciliation, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Entry and Record Keeping:
- Enter financial transactions into accounting software accurately and promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, ensuring proper documentation.
- Account Reconciliation:
- Assist in reconciling bank statements, credit card accounts, and other general ledger accounts.
- Investigate and help resolve any discrepancies that arise during the reconciliation process.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Process invoices, match them to purchase orders, and ensure correct coding.
- Assist in preparing accounts payable checks and ensure payments are made on time.
- Help with accounts receivable tasks, including invoicing customers and following up on outstanding payments.
- Financial Reporting:
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist in preparing balance sheets, income statements, and other financial documents as needed.
- Assisting with Audits:
- Help gather documentation and support the accounting team during internal and external audits.
- Ensure that all requested information is provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Expense Reporting:
- Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Verify the accuracy of receipts and documentation before processing reimbursements.
- General Support:
- Provide general administrative support to the accounting department as needed.
- Assist with special projects and tasks as assigned by the Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- Relevant coursework or internships in accounting are a plus.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance (internships or entry-level experience preferred).
- Familiarity with accounting software like QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle
- Skills:
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
