Housekeeper II, Evenings

Position Description:

This position is responsible for providing a clean, healthy, and well-maintained area of assignment. This job is distinguished from the Building Service Technician by the following characteristics: Assist in accomplishing building service duties in various locations and job assignments due to employee or supervisor absence. This position will serve as backup support to the Building Service Supervisor and the Building Service Technician. Working within established policies and procedures, this position will perform manual cleaning duties in various university buildings and facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, classrooms, lab rooms, offices, residence halls, guest rooms, and restrooms.

Major Responsibilities:

• Performs cleaning duties in areas as assigned such as; wash and sanitize toilets, sinks, showers, and restocking dispensers, straightening, dusting, wiping surfaces, vacuuming /sweeping mopping and floors, clean white/chalk boards, wash windows, wash walls, wash/wipe down trash cans, take out trash, etc.
• Act as back-up/fill-in for Building Services Technician and Building Services Supervisor
• Perform building services work in addition to directing and coordinating staff, as needed, to accomplish work goals
• Provide additional work assistance to custodians as directed by the Building Service Supervisor
• Strive to create and contribute to a pleasant work environment by treating all levels of staff with respect and co-operation
• Works as an individual or as part of a team to meet and exceed standards for assigned staff with respect and co-operation
• Promotes a positive team spirit within the department and the workplace
• Unlock/lock buildings
• Keep entrances safe and clean
• Cleans spills, soiled areas, and other conditions as observed and or directed
• Maintains all equipment and supplies in proper condition, and they are properly stored
• Ensures work areas are safe and that procedures regarding cleaners or objects are strictly adhered to
• Stock all equipment and supply carts with adequate supplies
• Ensure cleaning schedules are followed
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Report maintenance and repair needs via the work order system
• Work with the Building Services Supervisor to promote safety
• Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Required 1-2 years of related experience
• Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license
• Must present a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance
• Must be in good physical health; walking/standing, reaching, bending/twisting, kneeling/crouching/crawling, lifting, forceful gripping/grasping, pushing, pulling, or repetitive motion about 95% of the time
• Ability to frequently lift, carry, push/pull up to 50 pounds
• Ability to operate low and high-impact tools
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders
• Work from a ladder and work with arms and hands overhead
• Must be able to work well with little or no supervision and take direction
• Must be able to maintain a courteous, friendly, and helpful attitude with individuals on campus

Other Qualifications:

• Must be cooperative and willing to help coworkers at all times
• Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces.

Salary:

• $19.00 / hour
