The IT Desktop Systems Engineer I assists Desktop Engineering resources with implementing and supporting various applications and software for multiple business units. This role is also responsible for managing mobile devices including policy, application deployment and device enrollment. Responds to and diagnoses problems of low to medium complexity through discussion with users, which includes troubleshooting, fault rectification and problem escalation. Assists in hardware and software evaluation, field testing, and quality assurance.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Assist with implementation and support new solutions and / or assist Desktop Engineering team to expand existing solutions to meet current and upcoming business needs.
- Support specific applications, local application configurations, desktop environments (virtual and physical), and hardware / software deployments; document challenges, contribute to knowledgebase articles, and provide feedback to Desktop Engineering team as needed.
- Work with vendors and MSPs to support infrastructure, troubleshoot incidents, and ensure completion of daily tasks.
- Support multiple MDM platforms for multiple workstation (MacOS and Windows) and mobile (Android / iOS) operating systems across a variety of use cases including enrollment and end user support. With limited supervision, assist with application deployments and updates.
- Resolves day-to-day Service Desk issues by being a support escalation point, driving aging tickets and customer service issues to completion. Provides feedback to management and Managed Service Providers as it relates to the services provided from the service desk and other business units. Implement and document changes through change control process.
- Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.
- Communications :
- This role interacts with internal IT, internal customers, third party Managed Service Providers (MSPs), and external vendors. Primarily, this role will interact with Architecture, Operations, Services and Cyber Security internally as needed to maintain and work together to meet the needs and requirements of Valvoline.
- As a junior engineering and top tier support resource, this role will often engage with VIPs and other internal customers. Being able to think quickly and having excellent people and communications skills are needed. Vendors are often engaged when a solution cannot be found internally or with the third-party MSP. This role will assist in coordinating with third party vendors and working issues to resolution.
