Roller Operator

Vandalia Blacktop & Sealcoating, Inc., a reputable commercial and residential asphalt contractor serving the Miami Valley for the past 50 years.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate asphalt roller equipment to compact asphalt surfaces according to project specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct pre-operation inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working condition and report any maintenance or repair needs.
• Adjust roller settings and speed to achieve optimal compaction and smoothness of asphalt surfaces.
• Work closely with the paving crew to coordinate and execute paving projects efficiently.
• Monitor asphalt temperature and density during the compaction process to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Follow safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with foremen, supervisors, coworkers, and other personnel to coordinate tasks and resolve issues.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including equipment and tools.
• Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor while representing the company on job sites, employees, driving company vehicles, customers, and when wearing company apparel when clocked out.
• Possess and maintain the physical fitness and health necessary to effectively carry out the responsibilities of this position unassisted, such as operating a plate compactor, tamping, continued vibration, lifting up to 50 pounds, and repetitive tasks.
• This role requires working beyond typical hours (which is 7am to 5pm) to meet project deadlines. Flexibility in working hours is essential as the nature of the job may extend beyond typical hours to complete a project.
