Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sommelier / Beverage Director with deep expertise in French wines to join our team. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional knowledge of French wine regions, varietals, and vintages, paired with a talent for creating memorable guest experiences. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate closely with our culinary team to curate wine pairings that enhance our high-end dining experience.

Key Responsibilities
Wine Program Management
- Curate and manage an extensive wine list with a strong emphasis on French wines, ensuring a well-rounded selection from regions such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Loire, Rhône and Alsace
- Conduct regular evaluations of the wine list to reflect seasonal menus, guest preferences and industry trends
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels, oversee purchasing and manage wine storage to ensure quality and freshness
Guest Engagement
- Provide personalized wine recommendations to guests, tailoring suggestions to their tastes and meal selections
- Conduct tableside presentations to enhance the guest experience, including the decanting and proper service of wines
- Host wine tastings, pairings and special events to educate guests and promote wine sales
Team Collaboration and Training
- Work closely with the culinary team to develop and suggest wine pairings that complement the menu
- Train front-of-house staff on wine knowledge, service techniques and upselling strategies
- Foster a culture of continuous learning about wines, focusing on French wine expertise
Operational Excellence
- Monitor wine program profitability by managing costs, ensuring accurate pricing and tracking sales performance
- Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal liquor regulations
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organization in wine storage areas
Qualifications
- Certification as a Sommelier from a recognized program (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET Level 2 or above) is required
- Extensive knowledge of French wines, regions and vintages; familiarity with other international wines is a plus
- Proven experience as a Sommelier or similar role in a high-end or fine dining environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on guest satisfaction
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required by the restaurant schedule
- Detail-oriented, organized and passionate about wine and hospitality
