JOB SUMMARY
The MPC Payment Processor is responsible for receiving and processing payments. This position reports to the Mail Processing Center Team Lead and is responsible for timely processing of various payment types : personal checks, bank checks, official checks, money orders, and cash for several company transactions.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Processing Payments and Correspondence
- Receives, reviews and researches checks that come in daily to ensure proper sorting and identification.
- Uses check scanner system to upload payments for daily deposits.
- Reconciles the daily batch of payments that are deposited accurately and timely.
- Applies payment funds to the appropriate general ledgers within system.
- Receives and processes daily lock box payment forms located outside.
- Processes correspondence received with checks for imaging purposes.
- Escalates decisions to the proper member of the leadership team when necessary.
Cross Team Collaboration and Communication
Communicates with various department leaders, financial institutions, and other affiliates to clarify proper payment processing and obtain solutions to problems.Interacts with appropriate individuals to resolve hardware / software issues that interfere with check processing.Policy and procedures
Assists in maintaining an up-to-date, detailed documentation of training materials and policies.Adheres to compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including company guidelines.Maintains policies that reflect the company's mission.Remains knowledgeable of all company / department policies and procedures.Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS :
High School diploma or equivalent required.0-2 years related experience preferred.Basic computer skills with ability to type at least 25 wpm.Excellent math and 10-key calculator skills.Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently via phone, email, and person to person.Capability of gathering facts accurately, analyzing causes, evaluating alternate solutions, and arriving at sound conclusions on action to be taken.Ability to manage multiple and / or conflicting responsibilities.Great attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work in a team environment.Must have excellent follow up skills.PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.Will be constantly operating a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a telephone, calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.Must be able to exchange accurate information at all times.Must be able to identify and assess account status and determine appropriate process.Will constantly work in a state-of-the-art indoor temperature controlled, sealed window office environment.BENEFITS :
