About the Position

The Catering Banquet Captain at Vanderbilt University is a key member of our team, responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of catering events. This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and provide exceptional customer service to our clients.

The ideal candidate will have experience in food service management, event planning, and supervision, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills. As a Catering Banquet Captain, you will work closely with the Catering Operations Manager to ensure seamless event execution and exceed client expectations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of catering events, including setup and breakdown.
• Supervise and train contracted wait staff, student staff, and Campus Dining hourly union employees.
• Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure the quality and safety of food.
• Maintain accurate records of event details and make improvements to future catering events.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is necessary.
• An Associate's degree from an accredited higher education institution is preferred.
• Must be ServSafe certified within 3 months of hire and expected to pass renewal every five years.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
