What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Health Services position at Vanderheyden Hall Inc.?
The Director of Health Services oversees the Health Services Department that is responsible for providing nursing care to all the individuals of Vanderheyden in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act. This includes diagnosing and treating human responses to actual or potential health problems through such service as case finding, health teaching, health counseling and provision of care supportive to and restorative of life and wellbeing.
Primary Duties & Essential Functions:
- Comply with all requirements of 29ILicensure.
- Compliance with applicable law, rules, and regulations to include NYSED Guidelines.
- Ensures the health care needs of all individuals are met and provided for in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of NYS.
- Development of health care policy in conjunction with the Medical Director and VP of Operations.
- Revises policies, procedures and manuals associated with Health Services and Infection Control.
- Consult with Medical director regarding department policies, standing orders and individual client problems.
- Consult with Business Office regarding agencies medical bills.
- Coordination of HIV Assessments for the individuals.
- Develop and maintain systems that assure that all programs are operating within regulatory guidelines in accordance with OCFS, OPWDD and State ED.
- Provision of nursing care to individuals as needed.
- Provision of in services/training as needed regarding health care, health policies and infection control.
- Coordination in the Nursing on Call System.
- Responsible for provision of health services as defined in job description for RTC Assistant Director of Health Services and Assistant Director of Community Services Nursing.
- Assists with teaching OPWDD medication administration course.
- Oversees and manages MAP Program.
- Oversees and supervises Assistant Director of Health Services, RTC.
- Oversees and supervises Assistant Director of Health Services Community.
- Provides regular supervision and consultation of agencies RN's and LPN's.
- Supervise the training of the medication administration course and practicums for direct care staff.
- Monitor medication errors and plans of correction for staff.
- Supervision of agency consulting Dietitian.
- Supervision of office manager and running of office on a daily basis.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- NYS license as a registered nurse.
- Demonstrated competence as a RN.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in pediatric, developmental disabilities or psychiatric nursing.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Must be available to work a 40-hour work week.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
- Must be able to stand and run for moderate periods of time.
- Must have a valid NYS driver's license and clean MVR.
- Willingness to respond to the needs of a culturally population.
Pay: $100,000
