Accounting Manager
Our local non-profit client seeks an experienced nonprofit accounting professional to provide leadership to their evolving accounting team. The Accounting Manager will oversee daily accounting activities to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant month-end close, reporting, and audit processes. The ideal candidate is mission-driven with a strong commitment to equity, social justice, and uplifting diverse communities.
This role is primarily remote with occasional onsite meetings in Portland, Oregon.
Accounting Manager Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, providing staff supervision, training, and mentorship.
- Maintain accuracy and GAAP compliance of GL and financial records/reports.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance across accounting functions.
- Lead audit preparations and drive continuous improvements in accounting processes.
Accounting Manager Qualifications
- At least 5 years of accounting experience within a not-for-profit organization.
- Direct supervisory experience.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA a plus.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, payroll systems (ADP or similar), and advanced Excel skills including pivot tables.
- Experience with complex financial analysis, restricted revenue, grant management, and expense tracking.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, diverse, and mission-driven environment.
Salary : $100,000 - $110,000
