Summary
Responsible for supporting Vanguard Charitable’s mission and strategic objectives by increasing brand loyalty, retention and growth, and product adoption in our target client segments through various marketing, partnership, public relations, event and product strategies. Leads a team of marketing professionals responsible for driving client growth and loyalty. Innovative, high-energy, experienced leader.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Builds and manages a diverse team comprised of design, content, project management, and marketing professionals, including third-party partners. Provides guidance, training and motivation to develop internal staff. Hires, evaluates, and counsels personnel. Establishes environment in which ideas and feedback are readily and frequently shared.
- Manages and leads team to develop marketing plans with specific objectives across multiple client channels and segments. Understands needs and lifecycle of Vanguard Charitable target client to best create and execute on growth strategies.
- Sets strategy to create client balance growth and retention, including content creation and curation, email campaigns, thought leadership and events, public relations, and partnerships. Motivates team to innovate and experiment with strategies.
- Ensures Vanguard Charitable’s differentiated offering is positioned and marketed to drive maximum adoption of services and features. Recommends opportunities for further product/offer development.
- Manages and effectively allocates marketing budget across client marketing strategies and priorities. Optimizes spend based on goals and outcomes. Oversees and monitors approval on client marketing materials, whether digital, printed, or verbal communications. Communicates and negotiates with Vanguard Charitable counsel for review and acceptance of communications, programs, and thought leadership.
- Measures and reports on the performance of marketing strategies and assesses against organizational goals. Seeks out ways to gain insight into market motivations.
- Develops and maintains a strong relationship with Business Development, Product Development, Client Services, and Research and Strategy leaders to drive shared goals, enable positioning and promotion of Vanguard Charitable’s services and products to key audiences, and keep internal stakeholders apprised of progress to goals.
- Plays an active role as a member of the Leadership Group in driving and communicating with team around Vanguard Charitable’s strategic plan.
- Leads and participates in special business-wide projects as requested.
Qualifications
- College degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Prior work experience in marketing or communications and relevant Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of demonstrated marketing/communications experience in roles with progressive responsibility, including brand strategy, content development, and advertising.
- Minimum of three years demonstrated leadership experience.
- Experience working with a customer relationship management software, such as Salesforce.
- Experience working for or with nonprofit organizations or donor communities preferred.
- Is adept at quickly grasping complex issues and anticipating both the short term and long-term implications of decisions.
- Ability to synthesize complex information for the purpose of making quality decisions with a balance view of client and business. Proven aptitude for using data in decision-making.
- Proven success collaborating with a team to deliver a project or initiative.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent project management and prioritization skills.
