PURCHASING MANAGER

Role Qualifications:

• Good negotiating skills
• Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook
• Strong organizational skills for efficient management is mandatory
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills; self-confident and organized team player
• Solid decision making skills

Position Responsibilities:

• Assist VP Operations
• Negotiate with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantees.
• Establish purchasing policies and ensure compliance
• Develop new supply sources where vendors are inadequate
• Establish account/credit terms
• Negotiate blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitor costs during the time period
• Check requisitions for appropriate approvals. 
• Work closely with Receivables department to ensure proper supplies arrived
• Work closely with payables to resolve any PO , receiving, invoicing or coding errors
• Work closely with vendors for a timely delivery of materials and goods
• Work closely with plant management to coordinate product scheduling and inventory levels
• Monitor delinquent arrivals from purchase orders
• Follow environmental and safety regulations; comply with US laws, rules and regulations
• Comply with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics
• Supervise purchasing assistant

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Three to five years of related purchasing experience required with experience in furniture manufacturing preferred
• Proficiency in AS400 preferred
   
   

Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field

Physical demands and work environment:

• Sitting for extended periods of time due to computer work
• Talking on telephone and meeting with suppliers in person
• Some travel
