Vanguard Medical Group is hiring a Medical Receptionist to join our Hawthorne, NJ team.

This is a full-time position and the candidate must have weekend and evening availability. This is a position with a compensation rate of 18.00 - 23.00 per hour, depending on years of experience.
About the role:
The Medical Receptionist is responsible for administrative tasks such as answering phones, greeting patients and visitors and scheduling appointments in a professional and timely manner. The Medical Receptionist may be responsible for both administrative and clinical duties. Candidates must be able to work rotational weekend and evening shifts.
Job Responsibilities:
- Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, whether in person or over the phone and acts as a liaison between patient and provider.
- Maintains a polite, consistent phone manner using pleasant telephone etiquette.
- Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting patient information including personal and financial information during the check in process.
- Guides patients through the electronic check in process, if needed.
- Facilitates patient flow by notifying the Medical Assistants of patient arrival, being aware of delays, and clearly communicating status with patients and clinical staff.
- Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs, placing orders, and monitoring office equipment.
- Protects patient confidentiality by ensuring protected health information is secured, not visible to other patients and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.
- Obtains pre-certification for any required procedures or medications.
- Maintains clear and timely written and verbal communications between patient and provider via phone or Taskman.
- Relays information clearly to patient on preparation for appointments, lab tests, procedures, and referrals.
- Keeps the reception area clean, organized, and ready at the start of each working day.
- Performs all other clerical duties as assigned by Vanguard Medical Group.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or graduation equivalency degree (GED)
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Basic computer skills, including Word and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
