Vanguard Resources, Inc., (VRI), is actively recruiting for a full-time, salaried/exempt, Director, Business Development (DBD) focused on full life-cycle, outside sales. This role will be responsible for performing B2B outside sales initiatives, selling facilities management services within various markets. The DBD will be responsible for creating a pipeline to add to ones exisitng networks and contacts, along with activley participating in lead generation activities, while also using VRI's designated tools & resources.

Our preference is to hire within the San Antonio, Texas area and requires extensive overnight travel, (an est. 60% ); will be home-based out of our VRI Corporate office in Spring Branch, Texas (78070; just 30 miles north of downtown San Antonio, TX); some flexibility afforded in this role- depending on business needs, events, travel schedule, etc.

IMPORTANT NOTE: TRAVEL IS REQUIRED (est. 60% ) and may be SIGNIFICANT at times, including extended overnight stays. Targeted sales territory is within the state of Texas, and it's immediately surrounding states, with possible opportunities in other states.

Position Overview:

The Director, Business Development (DBD) will drive the full life-cycle outside sales process from contact through strategy, proposal, presentation & successful conclusion for VRI Facilities Management services. The DBD will be responsible for developing relationships and selling within various industries and environments. The DBD will aggressively research, identify, qualify & target potential clients & develop access strategy to initiate contact; develop & maintain relationships at all levels while understanding and communicating prospective customers' onsite culture; exercise creativity and judgment in developing and evaluating sales and marketing strategies within Facilities Management. The DBD will utilize internal and external tools and resources to design/deliver customer desired outcomes. Will also develop relationships to build pipeline of opportunities and awareness of capabilities. The DBD will represent as an Ambassador of Vanguard Resources, Inc. in the marketplace at various industry organizations and events, building and maintaining relationships personally with prospective customers. The DBD will provide appropriate market & competitive information, will successfully build alliances and influence key decisions makers (of all levels- including C-suite). The DBD will be accountable for responding to inquiries and requests and maintaining consistent client interaction.

Qualifications/Skills needed:

  • IMPORTANT: Competitive drive and determination with focus on results orientation
  • Proven track record of successful B2B/Service sales
    • Facilities Management sales experience preferred
    • Healthcare experience is a plus
  • Proficient in Lead Generation activities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Computer skills
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of faciities management - custodial and maintenance services and applies it to make mutually beneficial business decisions in a mature service industry
  • Must have a genuine desire and ability to discover the changing needs of clients and respond accordingly with solutions that target those needs
  • Strategic sales planning and methodologies
  • Reporting of sales results that align with established KPI/metrics
  • Financial, technical and business acumen in understanding needs and developing proposals and responding to RFP's
  • Excellent organizational skills; intrinsicly motivated/self starter
  • Adept at building business rapport and relationships that foster and result in new and repeat business
  • Comfortable working through a longer sales cycle
  • Demonstrate strong presentation, negotiation and persuasion/influencing skills
  • Advanced client and industry market awareness
  • Exceptional time management and planning skills
  • Understands financial models used in facilities management
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems - preferably Salesforce

  • High School diploma/GED equivalent required
  • Rigourous Interview Process - including skills, personality & ability assessments
  • Pre-employment: Stringent criminal background check, drug screen, health screens (healthcare divisions), and motor vehicle search required
  • Position requires flexibility to travel est. 60%, including extended overnights
