Description
Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the Student Nurse Aide provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Reports to: Director of Women's and Childrens Services
- Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment under the supervision of a licensed nurse
- Appropriately assesses, plans, implements, and evaluate patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse
Job Description:
- Report. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family under the supervision of a licensed nurse
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation under supervision of a licensed nurse
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs under the supervision of a licensed nurse
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
Qualifications
Minimum Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent X Required
- Must be currently enrolled in an approved nursing education program and has successfully completed coursework in pharmacology, medication administration and fundamentals.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
- Perioperative Nurse (CNOR)
- Must have current BLS certification within 30 days of hire date
Required Skills
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
