STATUS: Full Time, 195 Work Days per year, 7 hours/day

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
Vaughn Next Century Learning Center (Vaughn), located in Pacoima, is a large urban public school within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Since the early 1970s, low student achievement had been a pattern. In 1993, tired of being helpless and hopeless, Vaughn became the first conversion charter school in the nation and was authorized by LAUSD. The charter was renewed most recently in 2018. Vaughn has over 25 years of experience as a successful independent charter school serving the districts low-income students. This previously failing elementary public school is now a full-service, community-based, K-12th charter school that assures all students are college/career ready, digitally literate, and globally competent.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Intervention Support Lead is responsible for collaborating with grade-level and resource teachers to ensure the appropriate placement of students in intervention programs, as well as co-planning and providing targeted support in language arts and math, both within and outside the general education classroom. This role involves working closely with fellow intervention teachers to align on response to intervention (RTI) policies, procedures, curriculum, and instructional strategies. The Intervention Support Lead will maintain accurate documentation, including school-wide intervention crisis lists and data teams, and play a key role in 504 plan creation, documentation, and meetings for qualified students. Regular analysis of student progress through assessments will be conducted with the intervention team, while active participation in the intervention process and collaboration with general education teachers will be ongoing. Additional duties will be assigned as necessary to support the success of students and the overall academic environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with grade level teachers to facilitate appropriate placement of students in intervention program.
- Consult & collaborate with grade level Teachers to discuss students progress
- Co-plan with grade level Teachers and Resource Teachers in the areas of language arts in the general education classroom and/or provide Math intervention outside general education classroom for students
- Consult and collaborate with other intervention Teachers in the areas of response to intervention policies, procedures, curriculum, and instructional strategies
- Maintain accurate school-wide intervention crisis lists, data teams, and other types of required documentation needed for SST and/or administration
- Meet at least once per month with other school intervention Teachers to analyze students assessments and progress
- Actively participate in intervention process (i.e., screening students who receive services by intervention Teacher and consulting with general education Teachers)
- Create and organize 504 plans, documentation, and conduct 504 meetings for qualified students
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree
- Proficient in reading, writing, and math
- 2 years of experience working with students in a school setting
DESIRABLE SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual: English/Spanish
- Experience working in a classroom setting or tutoring center
- Experience with small group presentations
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Experience and commitment to working collaboratively with staff, parents, and community

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Upon receiving an offer of employment:
- Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan) with the Department of Justice (DOJ)
- Must provide a Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) clearance within 60 days of employment
- Will be assigned mandated state training to be completed prior to the first day of employment
