Role Overview:
The Project Accountant role at Vault Communications is a pivotal position that ensures the financial health and integrity of our agency. You will be responsible for performing day-to-day accounting functions, preparing financial reports, managing accounts payable/receivable, and maintaining accurate records to ensure smooth operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong attention to detail, advanced technical skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Management: Lead role managing accounts payable and receivable, including client billing and collections, vendor bills and payments, and employee expenses and reimbursements, while ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of transactions.
- Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile bank statements and accounts to maintain accurate records and identify discrepancies.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with the development of budgets and financial forecasts. Provide ongoing analysis and recommendations for cost control and resource allocation.
- Financial Reporting: Assist with preparation of monthly and yearly financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and productivity metric reports to support executive decision-making.
- Audit & Compliance: Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, and internal policies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with CFO and other staff to provide financial insights, assist with reporting, and ensure financial goals align with company strategies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of project accounting experience in a professional services business, preferably in an agency/professional services or similar environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar) and advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas)
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all financial tasks
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial team members and leadership
- Strong analytical skills and ability to proactively resolve financial discrepancies
- Self-Starter with ability to manage multiple priorities, work autonomously, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, high-energy environment
