Position Summary:
The Executive Director, Development will oversee the strategic direction, leadership, and performance of the development, events, operations, and communications teams. This role plays a critical part in advancing the organization’s development goals and driving impactful fundraising initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in operations and development within complex organizations, specifically in the healthcare or hospital sector, with a strong track record in leadership and driving performance outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of development professionals, overseeing 40% of staff across events, operations, and communications.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, high performance, and continuous improvement within the development department.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, donors, and external partners.
- Analyze and report on fundraising performance, using data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve results.
- Act as a primary point of contact for key donors, institutional partners, and collaborators.
- Lead in developing high-impact communications strategies to maintain strong donor relations.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 15 years in operations and development roles within sizable, intricate organizations.
- At least 10 years in a leadership role with proven success in driving operations, performance outcomes, and team performance, specifically within a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Extensive experience in managing large teams, overseeing diverse functions (including events, operations, and communications), and leading strategic development initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional certifications related to development, operations, or nonprofit management are a plus.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities, with a focus on mentoring and developing talent.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
