Laboratory Assistant
Shift Label: 7:00-3:30 First Shift
Location- Newport News VA
Tentative Start Date: 3/31/2025
Duration: Confirmed 12 months. High possibilities for getting extended for 2-3 years.
Minimum Requirement- Associate's degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years experience.
- Special Requirements Phlebotomy Experience (MUST HAVE)
Job Description/Comment:
- Sorts, labels, and logs specimens and performs testing procedures in accordance with strict procedures.
- Sorts and logs specimens, centrifugation, blood separations, and culture materials.
- Performs venipuncture and skin puncture to collect specimens from patients.
- Performs testing such as separating and centrifuging specimens, adding reagents to specimens, staining slides, tissue cultures, and DNA probe assays.
- Transcribes and records test results.
- Operates sterilizing equipment to decontaminate glassware.
