What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metrology Engineer position at VBeyond Corporation?
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the Metrology team, providing technical guidance and support to ensure the highest standards of measurement and quality assurance.
- Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of metrology projects. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and meet quality requirements.
- First Article Inspections (FAI): Manage and support the execution of FAI to ensure that aerospace components meet technical specifications and are ready for production.
- Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA): Lead RCCA efforts in the event of measurement discrepancies or quality issues, guiding the team in problem-solving to prevent recurrence.
- Statistical Analysis: Utilize statistical analysis methods, including statistical process control (SPC), to analyze data and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Audits and Compliance: Lead and support internal and external audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and client quality management systems (QMS).
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives in metrology processes to enhance measurement accuracy, efficiency, and overall quality.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure alignment and support in achieving operational goals.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of inspections, testing, and audits. Provide regular reports on team activities, findings, and recommendations to management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metrology, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in metrology, quality assurance, or a related field, with a proven track record of leading teams and managing projects.
- Strong knowledge of First Article Inspections (FAI) processes and standards.
- Experience with Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) and resolving quality issues.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and techniques, including statistical process control (SPC).
- Experience conducting and supporting audits (internal, external, or customer-facing).
- Proven project management experience, including planning, executing, and delivering projects within scope and deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in the aerospace industry or with aerospace components.
- Certification in Metrology or Quality Management (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Six Sigma).
- Familiarity with industry standards such as AS9100 and ISO 9001.
