Position Purpose:
The Corporate Accountant will play an important role in supporting the controllers in the overall accounting and administrative process at the corporate office and plant site offices. Responsibilities include maintaining the general ledger, preparing entries for month-end close, overseeing the company’s assets, working with external auditors, and coordinating financial statement preparation. This position requires an accounting degree or equivalent work experience and offers opportunities for growth based on commitment, performance, and skill development.
The Corporate Accountant is expected to identify and communicate significant issues within their area of responsibility, including financial results, company policies, work quality, personnel issues, and workload allocation.
Essential Functions
These duties are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this role.
Leadership
- Set a positive example for all employees in direct contact.

Policies Enforcement
- Work with the Corporate Controller and VP of Finance/CFO to develop and maintain policies ensuring accurate accounting information and consistent application across all divisions.
- Maintain and enforce company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Facilitation
- Identify and report issues requiring attention to the Corporate Controller and/or VP of Finance in a timely manner.
- Communicate operational and office-related concerns to appropriate management.
Staffing
- Assist in supporting staffing needs and maintaining appropriate workload balance among employees.
Accounting
- Financial Statements: Assist in preparing monthly financial statements for all manufacturing locations according to the corporate closing schedule.
- General Ledger: Ensure an accurate, complete, and current general ledger, with appropriate account coding, expense distribution, and reconciliations. Provide a closing notebook within five business days of the financial statement close.
- Intercompany Accounts: Work with controllers to ensure accurate and balanced intercompany accounting and billing, including corporate overhead allocations.
- Fixed Assets/Depreciation: Maintain accurate records of property, plant, and equipment. Ensure monthly depreciation tracking and reporting, including statements for extraordinary repairs and capital projects.
Other Responsibilities
- Financial Analysis: Provide financial guidance for operations and timber analysis as needed.
- Audit & Tax Support: Coordinate the annual financial statement audit, including preparing year-end audit schedules and liaising with auditors.
- Reporting: Use reporting tools (e.g., SSRS, AdHoc, Excel) to produce and maintain financial statements, production reports, inventory reports, and other support reports.
- Administrative Tasks: Handle miscellaneous administrative tasks as needed or assigned by the Corporate Controller or VP of Finance.
Non-Essential Functions
These duties are secondary and not classified as ADA essential.
- Cross-train to back up other office personnel (e.g., credit, cash, accounts payable).
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Education, Skills, and Abilities
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a business-related field.
- Preferred: Experience with MRP/ERP systems (Infor M3 is a plus)..
Skills:
- Strong Excel skills, analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Minimum five years of progressively increasing responsibility in accounting and supervision, preferably in the wood products industry.
- Strong 10-key and computer skills, particularly in database creation and management.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in office procedures.

Pay: $63,000.00 - $86,000.00 per year
