The Clinical Engineering (CE) Student Worker works with experienced BMET to gain hands on experience in the field of biomedical equipment maintenance. This temporary role offers a unique opportunity to be immersed into the fun and fast paced environment of CE. This temporary role allows them to perform a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of biomedical equipment. The CE Student Worker will work with VCU Health System’s dedicated CE team, learning about medical equipment maintenance and how CE partners with clinical and business departments to deliver safe, high-quality care and remarkable patient and team member experiences. Guided by experience leadership teams, the CE Student Worker will contribute to real-world projects that impact our organization, our patients, and the community in Richmond, VA.

Essential Job Statements

  • Introduction to biomedical equipment

  • Develop and apply medical equipment knowledge to support department and organizational initiatives.

  • Demonstrate personal ownership and accountability for safety across the area of responsibility by role modeling daily key concepts of a high reliability organization as personal work habits.

  • Performs other duties as assigned and/or participating in special projects to support the mission of VCUHS and the team. Accepting alternate responsibilities as required.

Required Education:

Enrolled in High School or a current student in a post-secondary Engineering program at a local, accredited/technical school.
