Mission or Goal of Unit: The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and
Metabolism provides a complete range of state of the art services for patients
with metabolic and hormonal disorders. Our faculty and staff provide inpatient
services on the campus of VCU Medical Center and at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA
Medical Center.
Outpatient care is provided in several
convenient locations including the Adult Outpatient Pavilion on our main
campus, VCU at Stony Point in suburban Richmond, and in conjunction with the
Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Nelson Clinic and the Center for
Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism on Parham Road.
Teaching and research serve
as the background for the care the Division provides. Our faculty participates
in the teaching of medical students, residents in Internal Medicine and Fellows
in Endocrinology & Metabolism. We offer a two year Endocrinology &
Metabolism Fellowship which is accredited by the ACGME. The Division is active
in research and clinical trials including diabetes, osteoporosis, polycystic
ovary syndrome and obesity.
Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism is seeking a faculty physician to advance the patient care, research and teaching missions of Endocrinology through direct patient care in the hospital/clinic and training of residents, medical students and other trainees in support of the above mission.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching | Assist
in the supervision of residents, fellows, and other learners in the environment.
Research | Participate
in departmental research projects and appropriate clinical trials.
Service | Serve
on university, school, departmental and division committees as needed.
Clinical | Provide
excellent patient care in Endocrinology and Diabetes and focused areas of
interest and experience in outpatient settings. Actively participate in management of patients on consult service.
Other | Comply promptly with billing, documentation, credentialing and other administrative requirements of the department.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated both scholarly and clinical abilities through patient care, teaching and clinical research
- Board Certified Endocrinology and in Internal Medicine
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
