Mission or Goal of Unit: Pursue the Research, Clinical, and Education Missions of the academic medical center in the areas of Hematology, Oncology, and Palliative Care. Through bench research, clinical trials and the rigorous study of prevention and control, our scientists pursue the many roles of medicine in treating, preventing and controlling the adverse effects of cancer. Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology, Oncology and Palliative Care is seeking a candidate that will have a role in developing the
Cellular Immunotherapies and Transplant Clinical and Research Program at the Massey Cancer Center. This position will have a role in advancing the clinical
research mission and will be expected to work collaboratively with other
members of the Massey Cancer Center.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching | Trains medical students, residents and fellows while in the clinic and on the inpatient service. Expected to actively participate in providing clinical research opportunities for fellows.
Research | This position will be responsible for bringing the most innovative clinical trials in solid tumor car t-cell therapies to the Massey Cancer Center and the VCU region utilizing intra and extramural partnerships. In addition, reasonable scholarly activities, such as publications, presentations at national meetings and participation in appropriate academic organizations, are expected as well as active participation as a scientific member of the Massey Cancer Center.
Service | It is expected that the person in this position will be active in decreasing health disparities in the community served by Massey/VCU.
Clinical | Attends on the inpatient wards and consult service, and/or sees patients in the outpatient clinic with a focus on seeing patients with indications for cellular therapies and transplants.
Required Qualifications:
- Board certified or eligible in Medical Oncology or Hematology
- Eligible for Virginia licensure
- Evidence of accomplishment/potential (e.g. – publications, trial PI) during medical school, residency, fellowship, and academic career
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplant
