Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is seeking an incumbent to provide clinical services in the Gastroenterology clinics at VCU Health which will include both clinics on the MCVH campus and in Gastroenterology outreach locations. The incumbent will participate in the inpatient management of patients with GI conditions, with specific expertise in the diagnosis and management of GI disorders. Incumbent will also participate as an attending physician on the Digestive Health service and perform endoscopic procedures.
Position Responsibilities:
Clinical - Provide clinical services
in the gastroenterology clinics at VCUHS, to include both clinics on the MCVH
campus and in gastroenterology outreach locations; participate in the inpatient
management of patients with GI conditions, participate in attending on the
Digestive Health Service at VCUHS; perform diagnostic endoscopic procedures.
Teaching – Provide teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows in the
management of patients with GI conditions.
Research- Triangulation of health disparities-opioid abuse-outcomes in the
context of inflammatory bowel disease to develop strategies for community based
implementation to improve access and treatment responsiveness.
Required Qualifications:
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
- Must be facile with diagnostic endoscopy
- Eligible for Virginia Medical Licensure
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
