Job Description
We are seeking a Chef Admin/Development Engineer with DevOps expertise to implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using Chef for configuration management and automation. The role involves working on Chef automation, pipelines, and cloud infrastructure while ensuring smooth deployments and server configurations.
Key Responsibilities
Chef Automation & Configuration Management
- Implement and maintain Chef-based infrastructure automation for configuration management tasks.
- Develop, update, and manage Chef cookbooks and recipes for different environments.
- Troubleshoot chef-client issues during deployments and ensure smooth rollouts.
- Create and manage Chef nodes, ensuring proper configuration across environments.
- Utilize Test Kitchen for local and cloud instance verification before deployments.
DevOps & CI/CD Pipelines
- Work on Chef Automation within CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments.
- Manage and optimize infrastructure provisioning through Chef automation.
- Implement environment-based automation using Chef recipes and cookbooks.
Infrastructure & Cloud Integration
- Deploy and maintain Chef-based automation in OpenStack and cloud environments.
- Use Chef node database to manage host configurations, DNS zones, and monitoring.
- Roll out Chef to all servers, ensuring efficient configuration management.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- 5 years of experience in Chef automation and DevOps.
- Strong expertise in Chef 12 and Chef 16 versions.
- Hands-on experience with Cookbook development, Chef recipes, and troubleshooting.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
- Proficiency in Test Kitchen for validation in local and cloud environments.
- Experience managing Chef nodes, environments, and rollouts.
- Familiarity with OpenStack and cloud infrastructure integration.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Ruby.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools and infrastructure optimization.
