VDL Industries Gainesville LLC is company number 99 in the VDL Groep and the first manufacturing facility in the U.S. Operations are from a state-of-the-art, 150,000-square-foot facility located in Flowery Branch, Georgia. The VDL Industries facility consists of the following work centers : laser cutting, metal forming, welding (MIG / TIG), electronic assembly / general assembly, sawing, drilling, shipping, storage opportunities, and Quality Control. VDL Industries utilizes a dedicated area for stainless steel welding and assembly operations.
Purpose
We are looking for an experienced Process Engineer to be responsible for process design, operation, implementation, and continuous improvement, specializing in mechanical assembly and clean room processes.
Education :
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or closely related field or equivalent work experience.
- Combined 7 years' experience in manufacturing.
- Six Sigma green belt or better is a plus.
- Clean Room / High Tech Industry experience a plus.
Essential Job Duties
Develop manufacturing processes per customer requirements, working in parallel with other members of the project team. The Process Engineer is expect to have a solid technical background, with experience in product development projects, design and implement systems used for manufacturing.
Work with the Project Team to translate customer requirements into deliverables.Cooperate and understand customer needs and organize proper resources to build up the project scope.Develop, configure, and optimize industrial processes from inception through to start-up and certification.Assess processes, take measurements, and interpret data.Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output.Manage the changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques, and review / report / escalate to management or project steering as needed.Develop process training and work instructions.Perform risk assessment to minimize project risks.Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and operating instructions.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High level of attention to detail. Excellent analytical thinker.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.Proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs.Experience with ERP / MRP systems.CAD / CAM experience, Solidworks preferred.Knowledge of ISO9001 based QMS.Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Kaizen, Six Sigma Lean, etc..).Affinity with Manufacturing Technology (machining, sheet metal, assembly, testing & qualification) is our strong preference.Ability to read and create design prints, understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and familiarization with inspection equipment and gages.Ability to learn and teach.The ability to challenge the internal organization on technology improvements, increasing the efficiency of equipment, quality improvement, and (structural) cost price reduction.
