What are the responsibilities and job description for the Professional School Counselor position at Vega Collegiate Academy?
We are seeking a compassionate, resourceful, and student-centered School Counselor to join our team. The School Counselor will support students' academic, emotional, and social development by providing support, counseling, and crisis intervention services. They will work closely with teachers, administrators, parents, and outside professionals to foster a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic, social-emotional development, and post-secondary readiness
- Identify and address students' needs through assessments, referrals, and direct services
- Develop and implement school-wide programs that promote mental health, social-emotional learning, and post-secondary readiness
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support student success and well-being
- Conduct risk assessments and intervene in crisis situations
- Facilitate communication between school and families, including parent conferences and referrals to community resources
- Promote equity, inclusion, and access for all students
- Master’s degree in School Counseling
- Valid CO Special Service Providers License (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Knowledge of counseling theories, crisis intervention, and current best practices in school counseling
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience with trauma-informed care and restorative practices
- Prior experience with school-based data tracking and reporting tools
Salary : $55,000 - $90,000
