JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT POSITION SUMMARY
The Junior Accountant will maintain accurate financial records, process invoices, assist in financial reporting, and support various accounting functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct day-to-day bookkeeping activities and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions in a timely manner.
- Reconcile bank statements and financial accounts to ensure consistency.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements.
- Collaborate with team members to gather financial information and resolve discrepancies.
- Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Define, benchmark, and implement operational best practices.
- Extended hours may be required, including holidays or weekends.
- Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and support Vegas Valley Fire Protection's mission, vision, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
- Other duties related to the fundamental aspects of the position may be assigned at the discretion of management.

IDEAL CHARACTERISTICS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- 1-2 years of practical experience is a plus.
- Excellent computer skills; with experience in Microsoft Office Suite, databases, or other accounting systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Good communication skills and ability with willingness to collaborate with team members.
- Ability to analyze financial data and provide insights.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The Junior Accountant must possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Strong “foundational” accounting knowledge in GAAP
- Great proficiency in using accounting software, spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and other relevant tools.
- Proficiency and experience with software system implementation.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Ethical conduct and integrity in handling financial information.
- Must possess proficiency and ability to communicate in English in oral, written, and typed format.
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Ability to comply with all federal and state agency requirements.
- Must adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures and all practices.
