What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Technician position at Vehicle Accessory Group?
As a Quality Technician, you will be integral to maintaining high standards of quality within our manufacturing processes. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will conduct quality audits, inspections, and analyses to ensure compliance.
Job Function:
Support role for internal quality department functions. Ensure & improve quality systems of processes and products through process review and auditing.
Responsibilities & Duties:
· Conduct process audits & generate follow up documentation
· Take immediate action based on discoveries: Stop production, contain suspect materials, & develop rework process for approval.
· Initiates and completes nonconforming material 'hold' tag process within Quality Management System.
· Responsible for new visual standards, and new work instructions associated with new product launch or revision of existing products.
· Performs Bill of Material verification reviews.
· Document and improve: quality criteria and work instructions
· Develops documentation for presenting, reporting, maintaining, and archiving of data.
· Responsible for entering data into Quality Assurance department databases.
· Assists with investigation of manufacturing defects, identification of root-cause, and implementation of control mechanisms to prevent future reoccurrence of product defects. Internal and supplier related. Plans and completes inspections and testing assignments of products.
· Assists with Quality, Manufacturing, and Purchasing concerning supplier non-conformance of product. Assists with investigation and data collection to resolve supplier non-conformance issues. Support supplier, measurement, & performance improvement
· Controls sample retention inventory and documentation associated with the QMS.
· Supports the Quality Management System (QMS) through participation in the Internal Audit program, corrective action process communications & continuous improvement programs. Internal & supplier related.
· Assists in maintenance of the QMS calibration program for Production Department and Quality Assurance Department.
· Reviews sample submissions from suppliers.
· Communicate findings and actions to management.
· Prepare related Key Performance Indices reporting monthly
· Assist sample preparation & shipment to test lab or customer.
· Support development of Operator training, testing & certification system.
· Customer Returned Goods (RGA) and Warranty follow up
· Some travel required to suppliers or customer required training.
· Knowledgeable of ISO / IATF 16949 requirements.
· All other assigned duties as determined necessary
Experience/Skills:
Reading, writing and basic math skills and computer skills at college level or higher.
Proficient in Excel & Word
Experience with MRP or similar manufacturing system preferred, not required
Demonstrated strength in communication & decision-making skills, and work with people
Minimum of 2 years related experience quality or inspection responsibility in manufacturing environment.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
