Controller

We are currently seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Controller to join our team. This position will require you to oversee and regulate our financial operations, giving reliable advice and adhering to relevant accounting laws. You will collaborate with our President to plan and execute strategies to achieve higher profitability and liquidity, set up and maintain financial reports, and lead the finance team to expand the company. The ideal candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of financial matters and proficient management expertise. 1. Financial Management:

• Oversee all aspects of financial operations for the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and provide regular reports to the executive team.
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

2. Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets and forecasts, ensuring accurate and timely cost tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide input and recommendations on cost-saving strategies and process improvements.

3. Cash Flow Management:

• Monitor cash flow projections and manage cash flow effectively to meet the company's operational and strategic needs.
• Maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions, overseeing banking activities and ensuring compliance with banking covenants.

4. Financial Reporting:

• Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Generate custom reports and analyses as needed for executive decision-making.

5. Contract Management:

• Collaborate with legal and project management teams to identify and mitigate financial risks associated with contracts.

6. Tax and Regulatory Compliance:

• Oversee tax planning and compliance in coordination with the owner and CPA firm.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations that may affect the company.

7. Team Leadership:

• Manage and mentor a team of financial professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the finance department.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree or CPA certification is a plus).
• Proven experience in a financial leadership role within the construction industry, preferably as a Controller or similar position.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing, WIP, and revenue recognition.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
