Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join our team as the Director of Business Development. This senior-level position requires a seasoned salesperson with a strong background in the clinical research industry. This position will be responsible for driving business growth by establishing and nurturing relationships with small and midsized Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and pharmaceutical companies. This role requires a deep understanding of the clinical research landscape and the ability to leverage existing networks and industry knowledge to achieve sales targets.
Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to expand our client base within the assigned territory.
- Identify and prioritize target CROs and sponsors, based on market trends, potential opportunities, and revenue potential.
- Collaborate with the executive team to align business development initiatives with company goals and objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at CROs and sponsors to promote our clinical research site business.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing insights, guidance, and solutions to meet their specific research needs.
- Conduct regular client meetings, presentations, and negotiations to drive business opportunities forward.
- Generate leads, qualify prospects, and convert them into clients through effective sales strategies and relationship building.
- Develop and deliver compelling sales pitches and proposals to CROs and sponsors, highlighting the unique value proposition of our clinical research site.
- Achieve or exceed sales targets and revenue goals by consistently closing deals and securing long-term partnerships.
- Stay up-to-date with market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities.
- Analyze market data and research insights to identify potential areas for growth and tailor sales strategies accordingly.
- Provide regular reports and updates on market intelligence, competitor analysis, and sales performance to the leadership team.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, marketing, and start-up, to ensure seamless execution of business development initiatives.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- In-depth knowledge of the clinical research industry, including an understanding of CROs, sponsors, and the drug development process.
- Strong existing network and relationships within the clinical research industry, particularly with CROs and sponsors.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and value propositions to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic business development plans and achieve sales targets.
- Exceptional negotiation and closing skills, with a strong ability to influence and persuade key stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze market data and develop actionable insights.Leadership qualities and the ability to mentor and inspire junior sales team members.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (business, life sciences, or related discipline) or equivalent years of experience.
- 6 years of business development experience
- Outstanding problem-solving skills
- Technical aptitude with Microsoft programs, Salesforce, and general metrics reporting
- Exemplary presentation skills with the ability to build presentations to be delivered to clients.
- Demonstrated track record of consistently meeting or exceeding an annual sales quota
- Strong prospecting skills and a desire to hunt for new businesses
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
