Master Scheduler

Velos is looking for a qualified Master Scheduler to support our work with NOAA. The Master scheduler is pivotal in managing project timelines, resource allocation, and workflows to ensure efficient operations, especially in environments requiring detailed planning across on-premise and cloud activities. A master scheduler coordinates schedules, mitigates risks, and optimizes resources to meet organizational goals while minimizing costs and maintaining high performance

This position has remote opportunity but must report to Silver Spring, MD.

Core Responsibilities

Scheduling and Planning

• Develops, manages, and updates the master schedule, including timelines for project phases, deliverables, and resource allocation.
• Aligns project timelines with organizational goals, ensuring that projects remain on track to meet deadlines and that production schedules maximize efficiency.
• Collaborates with various departments to coordinate activities and maintain accurate schedules, accommodating any changes or unforeseen events.

Data Analysis and Reporting

• Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) related to scheduling, such as on-time delivery, resource utilization, and production efficiency.
• Uses scheduling software and analytical tools to forecast demand and capacity.
• Provides regular reports and updates to senior management on project status, potential risks, and resource needs.

Communication and Collaboration

• Acts as a liaison between departments, ensuring clear communication of schedules, priorities, and changes.
• Engages with stakeholders to communicate progress and gather feedback to improve scheduling processes.
• Fosters teamwork and collaboration to meet project and organizational goals.

Process Improvement

• Continuously evaluates scheduling processes to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.
• Develops and enforces scheduling policies and standards, promoting consistency and best practices.
• Utilizes technology, such as scheduling software, to automate and streamline scheduling functions.

Cloud-Specific Responsibilities

Collaboration with Cloud Teams and Stakeholders

• Works closely with cloud architects, DevOps, and security teams to align cloud activity scheduling with organizational objectives and ensure seamless integration across teams.
• Ensures that cloud resource scheduling supports agile and DevOps methodologies, enabling rapid development, testing, and deployment cycles.
• Communicates cloud activity schedules, priorities, and adjustments to stakeholders, facilitating transparency and collaboration across departments.

Process Improvement and Cloud Efficiency

• Continuously evaluates and refines scheduling processes to optimize cloud resource usage, reduce costs, and improve deployment timelines.
• Implements best practices for cloud scheduling, including automation tools, to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention in cloud resource management.
• Stays updated on cloud technology advancements and integrates these into scheduling strategies to enhance the scalability and reliability of cloud-based operations.
