Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $28.94 (Overtime and weekends may be required)
We are hiring for a Flex Shift position which will cover all three shifts where needed.
Shift: 1st Shift 6am - 2:30pm
Shift: 2nd Shift 2pm - 10:30pm | Shift Differential $0.40 hour
Shift: 3rd Shift 10pm - 6:30am | Shift Differential $0.80 hour
Job Summary
The Blend/Evaporator operator works under the general direction of the shift supervisor and group leader. The Blend/Evaporator operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plants blend/evaporators to produce safe quality juice. The blend/evaporators remove water from single strength juice to convert the juice to concentrate. Concentrated orange juice is the company’s single largest selling product. The operator may work any shift and may cross train with other operators. In the absence of this person, another operator or group lead will perform these duties.
Primary Responsibilities
- Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift.
- Operate the Thermally Accelerated Short Term Evaporators as per instructions from the plant. Product processed through the TASTE is exempt from the HACCP plan because of the high temp but is important in producing safe juice.
- Ensures flow of product from extraction area to stage through the evaporator.
- Cleans and sanitizes equipment as needed per the cleaning schedule using CIP skid.
- Documentation of clean and sanitized equipment.
- Follows all safety rules and practices to include the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment.
- Check status on Finished Alpha Tanks up on the second level Catwalk.
- Sample all Alpha tanks with product for analytics.
- Deliver hourly samples to lab up 2 flights of stairs
- Transfer product or bin per daily issued Priority Report (Planning) – if transferring into tank farm you will enter a 15-degree F room to manipulate valves and may need to climb 2-3 flights of stairs to sample bulk tanks.
- Properly record information in hourly and daily logs (evaporator daily log sheet and evaporation data record).
- Follows all personal hygiene and food safety & quality practices.
- Act professionally towards customers, vendors and other visitors to the plant.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent punctuality and a positive attitude always.
- Process Inventory at the end of every shift.
- Collect water and oil phase essence.
- Basic troubleshooting of equipment used.
- Report all Hazards to Supervisor/Manager or Industry Safe.
- Performs other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- One year experience in a plant manufacturing environment preferred.
- Basic computer skills, i.e., the ability to read and handle a touch screen.
- Must have a forklift license or the ability to obtain one.
Physical Requirements
The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must. 80% of the time may be spent walking, climbing stairs and ladders in the area immediately outside the physical plant in an open-air environment. 20% of the time may be spent operating a forklift in an outdoor environment.
Qualifications
Salary : $25 - $29
